Q. What's a career-focused college?

A. A career-focused college is a college that focuses more strongly on career training and less on general education. We believe it is our job to prepare you for a career. Yes, general education courses are also an important part of our degree programs, but the hands-on career training Redstone College students receive is what makes them successful upon graduation.

Q. Is your school accredited?

A. Yes, Redstone College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award associate degrees and diplomas.

Q. When will I be in class?

A. Classes are held Monday through Friday for all programs. Airframe and powerplant (A&P) and avionics day classes are held from 7:30 a.m. to 2:25 p.m., and A&P night classes are held between 4:00 p.m. and 10:55 p.m. HVAC /R classes are usually held either 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. four nights per week.

Q. What is a typical class size at Redstone College?

A. Redstone strives to maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio, especially in laboratory or workshop settings. The number of students in a classroom or laboratory is typically 15-22.

Q. Why do I need a college degree?

A. Because a college degree will be a lifelong benefit. First, having a degree is a basic requirement for more and more jobs. Many job opportunities are closed to those without degrees. Second, people with degrees typically make much more money throughout their lives. And finally, attending college helps students grow and mature. College courses expand your knowledge and skills, help you understand concepts and theories and increase your understanding of the world and community. In short, college is the gateway to a better future.

Q. I struggled in high school. How will I ever make it through college?

A. Redstone College is an ideal environment for students who thrive with extra support and attention. Our small campus and class sizes allow our instructors and staff to get to know you personally. In some ways, Redstone becomes a second family for students. We feel it is our job not only to teach the course material but also to help students succeed outside of class. On-campus services, such as tutoring, help in finding part-time jobs, and housing assistance, help you cope with both life and school.
