International Student Admission Requirements

Applying for admission to a college in the United States is a difficult, yet potentially rewarding, process. Redstone College's international admissions representatives are here to help you with every step of this process.

Below you will find four phases to help guide you through the admissions requirements for Redstone College. If you have any questions, please send us an email.

PHASE 1  |  PHASE 2  |  PHASE 3  |  PHASE 4

PHASE 1:

An International Admissions Representative or agent will contact you. You must provide the following information:

  • Are you in the United States at this time?
  • Do you have a valid F1 student visa?
  • What is your program of interest?
  • In what country and city do you live?
  • Do you have a phone number where we can contact you?
  • Do you want to study in the United States or complete your degree online?
  • In what state are you looking to attend college?
  • Would you need assistance with housing?

Your representative will then provide you with program information including a description, length of program, and related costs. We will email or fax an enrollment document, as well as other documents needed to issue your I-20. You will need to read and sign the enrollment document, then scan and return it by email or by fax at 303-785-7047. Original copies of some documents may be required to issue your I-20:

  • A certified document stating that you have successfully completed high school (secondary education) translated and evaluated to US Equivalency or a certified copy of your diploma translated and evaluated to US Equivalency.
  • A certified document stating that you have successfully completed a university or college degree with a certified copy of your diploma translated and evaluated to US Equivalency, if applicable.
  • Letter of Intent letting us know why you want to study in the United States.
  • A signed and notarized Letter of Sponsorship from your sponsor stating:
    • His or her relationship to you, the student
    • What sufficient funds have been set aside solely for the purpose of your education. You must also provide us with the name, address, and phone number of your sponsor so that we may verify the information provided.
    • A bank statement showing $28,000.00 USD (twenty eight thousand US dollars) in your own or your sponsor's account to cover tuition, fees, and living expenses for your first academic year. This bank statement will be required at your consulate interview, as well.

Applicants from countries where English is not the primary language spoken, and applicants whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English language proficiency by providing the institute with one of the following:

  • A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test score of 475 or higher on the paper-based test; 153 or higher on the computer-based test; or 53 or higher on the internet-based test (TOEFL iBT)
  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 4.5 or better
  • A Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 70 or better
  • Proof of completion of an accredited college program in the United States
  • A high school diploma or GED in the United States
  • A high school or college diploma from a country which uses English as the language for education*
  • Verification of a high school transcript from a school which uses English as the main language of instruction
  • Official documentation demonstrating successful completion of an English language program of study and/or English language proficiency exam as explicitly defined in a written cooperative agreement between the college and a Redstone College-approved English language school. For a complete list of Redstone College-approved English language schools with which the College has cooperative agreements, please see the ESL section.

If English is your first language or if you have been taught in English, you may not have to provide proof of English proficiency.
