Advanced Electronics Technology (Avionics) Program Objectives

Attending an avionics school may be right for you if you like hands-on, technical work. Avionics jobs are fast-paced and dynamic, so it's essential to get comprehensive training. Redstone College can help you on your way towards an aviation career with technical courses that prepare you to repair and maintain the related electronics. You will learn to troubleshoot and repair electronic communications systems, navigation systems, collision avoidance systems, autopilot, and other advanced aircraft technologies.

Courses available to students in this program include:

  • Advanced Aircraft Systems
  • Aircraft Autopilot Systems
  • Aircraft Systems Integration
  • Amplifier Theory and Circuitry
  • Communication & Navigation Systems
  • Digital Instruments and Systems

If you want an avionics job, you have to start with the right training and tools. Once enrolled in Redstone's avionics courses you'll get a host of benefits, including the opportunity to:

  • Receive an extensive tool kit provided with your tuition
  • Work on trainers from Heath/Zenith, Lab Volt, Hitachi, PDI and BK
  • Experience first-hand the mechanics of a Learjet 24D. Read more about this Learjet
  • Use a full-sized Boeing 727 cock-pit
  • Use a flight simulator

Although there are no FAA tests required for avionics graduates, Redstone's avionics training helps you prepare for the Elements 1, 3, and/or 8 FCC tests if you choose to take them. We can put you on the right track for a career in avionics, and many segments of the industry like to see aviation school students with these certifications.

Job opportunities for Avionics Technicians are expected to be good. "Technicians who are cross-trained and able to work with complex aircraft systems should have the best job prospects... Technicians with licensing that enables them to work on the airplane, either removing or reinstalling equipment, are expected to be in especially high demand."
