The construction management courses offered at Redstone College cover a wide variety of subjects pertaining to current workplace trends. Students in the construction management program receive training in three main areas: construction science, construction management, and business. Professionals in this field need leadership and organizational skills along with a good knowledge of construction. You'll gain these important credentials and learn to apply them in a career setting.

Courses cover topics like construction safety, computer-aided design for construction, and construction accounting. The construction management program is career-focused, so you'll get the practice you need to enter the workforce. Upon successful completion of this program, you should be able to:

  • Describe commonly used construction materials and methods and testing procedures for materials listed in the Construction Specification Institute's MasterFormat
  • Explain typical roles, responsibilities, and organizational structures associated with construction projects

  • Communicate professionally with construction project team members using correct construction terminology

You'll learn general business skills needed to operate effectively in a construction management environment, and skills that support the administration of projects, including tracking construction schedules, monitoring activities on a construction site, and developing quantity surveys. Along with a traditional classroom setting, you'll participate in"lab" time where you'll receive hands-on construction management training in areas like estimating, project management, and planning. You'll study the basic foundation of construction concepts such as building materials and construction methods that are fundamental to residential and commercial structures.
