Recognizing Demand for Trained Construction Supervisors, Redstone College in Denver to Offer Construction Management Program
Twenty Month Curriculum leads to Associate Degree in Construction Management
June 5, 2006 (Denver, Colorado) - Redstone College (formerly known as Westwood College of Aviation Technology in Denver) is announcing it will begin accepting applications on June 5, 2006 for its new Construction Management program which will be introduced at campus in Denver when the college's next term begins on August 14, 2006.
The 20-month program Associates Degree program will include lecture and laboratory courses covering a wide range of construction-related topics including building materials and techniques, documents, surveying, computer aided design, planning and scheduling, building codes and inspection requirements, construction law and estimating.
"Commercial, residential, industrial and transportation contractors and sub-contractors have indicated they have a growing demand for people who have been trained in the operations, technology, economics, administrative and business aspects of the construction process," said Kirk Riedinger, chairman and co-founder of Redstone College, and its parent company, Alta Colleges. "It is a very challenging time in the construction industry," he added. "Construction costs are rising, advanced planning and job-site technology is being adopted, new materials are being used and government regulations are constantly changing. All contractors need people who understand these dynamics and can help assume responsibility for bringing in a construction project on time, within budget and which meets all of the customer's needs."
Riedinger said the Construction Management curriculum was developed in cooperation with experienced construction industry representatives and that the faculty includes individuals with both academic and on-the-job-site experience. Courses will be offered throughout the year, enabling students to receive their associate degree in less than two years.
The Denver campus of Redstone College is located at 10851 West 120th Avenue in Broomfield, and the telephone number is 303-466-1714 or toll-free 1-800-281-2978.
